NYU Dentistry Alumni recognition
On April 19, Wayne Kye (DDS ’01) received the Dr. Kratenstein-Scopp Fellowship Award for Service at the Northeastern Society of Periodontists (NESP) Spring Scientific meeting held in New York City. NESP President Dr. Tyler Kim (PG Perio ’13) presented the award to Dr. Kye, who is the past-president of NESP and also a clinical associate professor of periodontology and implant Dentistry at NYU Dentistry.
Dental deep cleaning: Do you really need it?
Ninety-three percent of dentists reviewed by Angie’s List members are highly rated. However, 16 percent of the 715 member reviews submitted last year that mention deep cleanings were negative. The treatment, also called scaling and root planing, removes plaque and bacteria below the gums to prevent bone loss that can loosen teeth and complicate medical conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease.
